#casuals #industrialrelations #statesystem #wa #wageincrease #westernaustralia Jan 30, 2025

Are you an award-free casual employee covered under the WA state industrial relations system?

From 31 January 2025 the minimum wage for casual employees in the state system will increase! The increase will occur due to a rise in the casual loading, from 20% to 25%.

The casual increase does not apply to:

  • Fair Work covered employees;
  • WA state employees covered by an award or agreement;
  • state employees outside of WA;
  • apprentices or trainees.

See the minimum wage increases below, effective 31 January 2025:

Call to action!

Employers - cross check your award free casual employees pay rates. Are they higher then the updated minimum wage?

Employees - double check your pay slips from the 31 January 2025 and ensure you are being paid above the casual minimum wage. If this isn't the case, it's important to discuss this with your manager as soon as possible.

If you have any questions or curious if this impacts you please feel free to reach out to the team at Employii via [email protected]. We are more than happy to help!
