Increases to Travel Allowances!
Jul 16, 2024Employees covered under a Modern Award are entitled to allowances for doing certain tasks, working in certain locations, using a special skill or for incurring expenses for doing their job.
A common example is the travel allowance which under some Awards provides an employee payment if the employee is required and authorised to use their own motor vehicle in the course of their duties. Previously, this allowance was often $0.98 per kilometre.
Recent changes have highlighted an increase to the allowance, which now entitles employees to repayment of $0.99 per kilometre. The increase includes but is not limited to the following Modern Awards:
- Aged Care Award 2010
- Cleaning Services Award 2020
- Educational Services (Schools) General Staff Award 2020
- Education Services (Teachers) Award 2020
- Electrical Power Industry Award 2020
- Fire Fighting Industry Award 2020
- Funeral Industry Award 2020
- Health Professionals and Support Services Award 2020
- Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2020
- Medical Practitioners Award 2020
- Nurses Award 2020
- Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2020
